7th Pay Commission: Govt Approves Special Leave For Central Employees

The Central Government has approved the introduction of another “Extra Special Leave” under the 7th Pay Commission for its employees with the aim to provide work-life balance and to satisfy certain diverse personal and professional needs. 

Key Highlights Of Extra Special Leave Policy:

  • Objective: To enhance the scope for extra leaves for personal, medical, and professional reasons in the interest of employee well-being and Productivity.

Leave Types

  • Medical Leave: 30 days maximum for medical ailments with a medical certificate.
  • Family Leave: 15 days for family emergencies on self-declaration.
  • Maternity/Paternity Leave: Six months for eligible parents with supporting documents.
  • Personal Leave: 10 days for attending to personal matters on self-declaration.
  • Education Leave: One-year maximum for studies with proof of course enrollment.
  • Travel Leave: 20 days for shifting with proof of travel.
  • Bereavement Leave: 7 days for bereavement on self-declaration.
  • Volunteer Leave: 5 days for community service with a service letter.
  • Who are entitled: Central Government officers, with certain filters applicable to different leave types.
  • How to go about it: This policy is now operative in nature and officers should avail the same whenever need be as they deem fit for their well-being.
  • Feedback Mechanism: These annual surveys, along with continual contact with the HR departments, would aim to capture employee feedback and ascertain if the policy is truly effective.
